Dennis Lee Mizell

July 24, 1948 - Sept. 25, 2017

ANGLETON, Texas — Dennis Lee Mizell died Sept. 25, 2017.

He was born July 24, 1948, to Kenneth and Elaine Mizell in McCook, Neb. He grew up in McCook and graduated from McCook Senior High School in 1966.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1969 in Kaiserslautern, Germany. He married Gail in 1998. He was a  communications tech from 1982 at Union Carbide, then at Dow Chemical, until his retirement in 2016.

He was a faithful member of the Angleton First United Methodist Church. Dennis was a founding member of Grandparents As Parents, along with his wife and the staff of the Angleton First United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents,Kenneth and Elaine Mizell; and brother, Garry Mizell.

Survivors include his wife, Gail; sons, Dennis R. (Sareth) Mizell of Angleton, Texas, John (Molly) Hogan of Lake Jackson, Texas, Todd (Karissa) Kieso of Springfield, Mo.; daughters, Christy (Scott) Lesher of Grand Island, Neb., and Heidi Kieso of Bettendorf, Iowa; adopted grandchildren, daughters, Sierra Kieso and Gabrielle Mizell and son, Alec Mizell; sisters, Karon (Bill) Mizell of Cotter, Ark., Coleen Ellis of Alliance, Neb., Sherry (Jerry) Feagins of Omaha, Neb.; brother, Kenneth L. (Paula) Mizell of Raleigh, N.C.; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Graveside services are Sunday, May 27, 2018, 11:30 a.m., at the Clayton, Kan., cemetery. Inurnment will be with the Jennings, Kan., color guard.

Memorials may be given to the church.

Kirk Mortuary in Houston, Texas, was in charge of arrangements.
