Rev. Jerry D. Lawritson March 2, 1944 - January 24, 2016 SAN DIEGO Rev. Jerry D. Lawritson, 71, passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2016. He was born March 02, 1944, and was raised in McCook, Nebraska. Jerry graduated with a B.A. degree in Philosophy from Doane College, and received his Masters of Divinity from Pacific School of Religion. He continued his education in 1999 and subsequent years at Oxford University in England. Jerry was ordained into the United Church of Christ, and served as the minister of the First Congregational Church of Martinez in California for 17 years before moving to San Diego, where he served as minister of the Community Congregational Church of Pacific Beach for 30 years before retiring in January of this year due to illness. As a pastor, Jerry touched and helped the lives of many through his ministry. As a scholar, he educated others through his teachings, writings and lectures. Jerry had a passionate love of theology, philosophy, books and music, which was outweighed only by the love he had for his family. He will be missed. Survived by his wife of 32 years, Deborah Turner-Lawritson; his daughter, Dasha Dooley and son-in-law, Brian Dooley; his son, Matthew Reagan and daughter-in-law, Jennifer Reagan; his grandchildren, Ashlee Dooley, Kyle Reagan, and Kelly Reagan; his sister, Ann Rayer; and his nephews, Mark, Greg, David and Brett. A Memorial service will be held at the Community Congregational Church of Pacific Beach on Saturday, January 30, at 1:00pm, followed by a reception at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to The Community Congregational Church of Pacific Beach, CA.
