Carole Messer (Roberts) - Class Of 1962

Carole “CJ” Roberts passed away peacefully on February 20, 2025, at Mitchell Care Center in Mitchell, Nebraska. Her funeral service will be held 11am on Friday, March 7, 2025, at Bridgman Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Reisig officiating. Interment will be in Mitchell Cemetery, Mitchell, NE. Born on December 23, 1944, she was the daughter of Ottis “Spike” Messer and Jacqueline McKinney and spent much of her life in Gering and Scottsbluff, Nebraska.

Carole dedicated the last 20 years of her career to advocacy, serving as an ombudsman and working to ensure the rights and well-being of those she served across a large sector of the state. She was steadfast in her convictions and fiercely committed to advocating for those who needed a voice. Her life’s work was defined by her dedication to fairness, dignity, and the well-being of others, values she championed both professionally and personally.

A voracious reader, Carole found joy in literature, always eager to explore new ideas and perspectives. She had a deep love for movies and embraced a wide variety of music, appreciating the art and expression found in each. She instilled a love of reading and movies in her children and grandchildren, fostering a lifelong passion for the arts. She was determined, independent, and never afraid to stand up for what she believed in.

Carole was preceded in death by her parents Ottis “Spike” Messer and Jacqueline McKinney, and brother Jon Messer.

She is survived by her sons Mark Frossard (Melanie), Chris Frossard (Ann), Robb Frossard, and Ray Odell (John); daughter Trish Frossard; and five grandchildren Tayen Frossard, Tristan Frossard, Kara Frossard, Bryce Frossard and Hadley Frossard.

She leaves behind a legacy of strength, advocacy, and an unwavering dedication to doing what she felt was right. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all those whose lives she impacted.
