GARY CORDER Obituary

Gary Lee Corder, 70, entered into eternal peace on August 5, 2013 surrounded by family and friends. Gary was born to Alice and Dale Corder McCook, NE January 28, 1943. After graduating from McCook High School, Gary attended college in Kearney, NE where he earned a bachelors degree in business. While attending Kearney State he met Sharon (Cook), they were united in marriage on May 29, 1965. Of their union one child, Laurence was born on May 31, 1970. Gary worked as an auditor for Travelers Insurance Company for 31 years. During his time at Travelers he was also a volunteer Police Officer in Shawnee, KS for 10 years and sat on the Board of Zoning Appeals in Shawnee, KS for 9 years. After retiring from Travelers, Gary went to work at Blanck and Lancey, CPA Firm, where he worked for the past 15 years. Gary is survived by his wife, Sharon, of the home. He is also survived by his son, Laurence Corder and wife Deb, of Baldwin City, KS. "Buddy" will be greatly missed by his only grandchild, Shelby, of Baldwin City, KS. One brother survives, Larry Corder and wife Pam, of Kearney, NE. The family would especially like to thank all those involved from St. Luke's Hospice in the care of Gary for the past several months. All those include Anna, Beth, Bobbi, Jackie Jami, Kelli and Doug. In lieu of flowers the family requests donation to St. Luke's Hospice, 3100 Broadway, Ste. 1000, Kansas City, MO 64111. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, August 9 at the Amos Family Funeral Home, with a service following immediately after at the funeral home. Burial will be at Maple Hill Cemetery in Kansas City, KS.
