It is with profound sadness that we announced the death of Corlyn “Corky” Gettman on Jan. 5, 2025.
Corlyn was born April 19, 1942 in McCook, Nebraska. She moved to Santa Barbara in 1960 with her husband John, where she worked downtown at an insurance company as an underwriter.
A few years later John and Corky opened a printing company in Goleta called Fotoscreen Printing, where Corky acted as office manager and bookkeeper.
Corky had a love for all animals, especially cats. Somehow stray cats would always find her and she would give them a home.
She enjoyed volunteering at the Humane Society and at Meals on Wheels.
Corky had a passion for reading and loved to write. She eventually wrote her own book that was published in 2007.
She was a devoted mother and grandmother who was actively involved in her children’s and grandchildren’s lives.
Corlyn leaves behind her daughter Kristen Gettman-Molitor; son John H. Gettman; granddaughter Brianna Kenney-Johnson; grandsons Jordan Kenney,Gabriel Gettman, Gavin Gettman; great grandson Jasper Johnson; great granddaughters Hana Kenney and Riley Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her husband John Gettman in 2005.
Corlyn will be missed by all who loved her, and as we navigate our lives without her the memories will be with us forever.
