MCCOOK, Neb. — Barbara J. Graff-Marts, formerly of McCook, passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at Chase County Community Hospital in Imperial, Neb. She had been residing at Sunrise Heights Nursing Home in Wauneta, Neb. She was 76 years old.

Barbara was born on Dec. 23, 1940, at McCook to parents, George and Olinda (Kautz) Graff. She graduated from McCook High School with the class of 1960. On May 5, 1962, she was united in marriage to Jim L. Marts. They made their home in McCook, where Barbara was a busy homemaker and mother.

She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and Altar Society. Barbara loved to sew and made most of her clothes for herself and family. She also enjoyed her yard, especially her roses and tulips, and her favorite cat, Frodo.

Preceding her in death were her parents, George and Olinda Graff; her husband, Jim Marts on Aug. 1, 2008; and son, Christopher Joseph Marts.

Survivors include her children, Tammie and husband, Tim Redden and Christopher James Marts and wife, Alison, all of McCook; brother, Larry Graff and wife, Peggy, of Windsor, Colo.; six grandchildren and one great-grandson; and a host of family and friends.

Memorials may be given in her name.

Visitation will be Sunday, April 2, 2017, at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook from 4 p.m. until time of rosary at 7 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, April 3, 2017, 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Father Gary Brethour as Celebrant. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
