Gary Bloomgren - Class Of 1959 VIEW PROFILE

Gary Thomas Bloomgren October 27, 2021 Gary Thomas Bloomgren was a caring husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He left this world on October 27, 2021 at age 81. A private graveside service will take place at a family cemetery in Oberlin, Kansas, where Gary's caretaking efforts flourish to this day. Gary was born to George and Mary Bloomgren on July 3, 1940 in McCook, Nebraska. He graduated from McCook High School. Gary then held a number of jobs to support his family, to include Safeway in McCook, Samsonite in Denver, and Target in Scottsbluff. Gary met the love of his life, Mary Lou Teeple, on a blind date in McCook in 1961. It was love at first sight. They were married for 58 wonderful years and supported each other every step of the way. Together, they had three children: Sherri, Kelly, and George. Gary loved spending time encapsulating family memories through extensive genealogy research and avidly recording family events. The family would fondly gather around the TV to watch endless hours of home videos, full of precious memories. He was a skilled handyman, known for moving walls in the family home. Gary took his family on adventurous road trips that will always be remembered. He enjoyed camping and fishing. He was a lifelong Elks member and was active in his community. Gary was a man who loved doing things for others without ever wanting anything in return. Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou of Scottsbluff; daughters, Sherri (Kurt) Kelly of Melbeta and Kelly (Bob) Nerosa of Carrolton, Texas; son, George (Kacy) Bloomgren of Churchill, Montana; sister-in-law, Beverly Brasel of Ogalalla, Nebraska; brother-in-law, Jim Hardwick of Norfolk, Nebraska; grandkids, Bobby (Jessica) Nerosa of Dallas, Kyle (Christina) Kelly of Tucson, Arizona, Kayla Kelly of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Matthew Nersoa of Dallas, Texas, and Victoria, Jackson, and Gage Bloomgren all of Bozeman, Montana; five great-grandkids; and multiple nephews and nieces. Gary was preceded in death by his brother, Don Bloomgren of Wichita, Kansas; niece, Rebecca Ott of Wichita, Kansas; and brother-in-law, Dick Brasel of Ogalalla, Nebraska.
