Wayne Rothmeyer - Class Of 1958 VIEW PROFILE

KIRKLAND, Wash. — Wayne Anthony Rothmeyer, 82, passed away on Dec. 13, 2022, in Kirkland, surrounded by his family. He was born on Sept. 29, 1940, to Alvin “Bud” Rothmeyer and Mary (Sughroue) Rothmeyer in Cedar Bluffs, Kan. In the years following, the Rothmeyer family moved to McCook, Neb., where Wayne attended grade school at St. Patrick Catholic School, followed by McCook High School. He then continued his education at McCook Junior College and graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. After college, Wayne moved to Cincinnati, Ohio, where he began his career as an actuary. He later moved to Seattle, where he met and married Judith (Ahlquist) Rothmeyer, his wife of 55 years, on Nov. 22, 1967. Wayne and Judy raised their three children, Michael, Michelle and Marcus, in Richmond Beach, Wash. The couple relocated to Las Vegas, Nev., in 2000 to enjoy retirement and returned to the Seattle area in 2022. Wayne was an avid Nebraska football fan (Go Big Red!), baseball player, traveler and adventurer, climbing Mount Rainier, hiking the Grand Canyon and running a marathon. A lifelong Catholic, Wayne served as a Eucharistic minister and member of St. Vincent de Paul. He loved spending time with his six grandchildren, Jordan, Katharine, Mackenzie, Samuel, Grace and Ava. Wayne is survived by his loving wife, Judith; three children, Michael (Jennifer), Michelle and Marcus (Heidi); and six grandchildren, Jordan, Katharine, Mackenzie, Samuel, Grace and Ava. Wayne will be interred at Holyrood Cemetery in Shoreline, Wash., in the coming weeks. Memorials may be made in honor of Wayne to St. Vincent de Paul.
