McCOOK,Nebraska -- Geraldine R. Murray, age 73, of McCook, died at Community Hospital in McCook 0n Feb. 18, 2014.

She was born in McCook on April 21, 1940, to Kenneth and Nadine (Gragg) Cross. Geraldine attended school in McCook, graduating from McCook High School in 1958. On May 16, 1964, she was united in marriage to Charles Murray in Boone, Iowa. Charles preceded her in death on April 19, 2004.

Geraldine was employed by the Iowa State University as a cook at the Maple Willow Large Dormitory Complex for more than 20 years. After Charles' death, Geraldine moved to McCook in 2007, living at the Emeritus Willow Ridge. While here she volunteered at the Hillcrest Nursing Home, helping out with activities. She also volunteered with the Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed crocheting, scrap booking and the Red Hat Society. In Boone, Iowa, she was a member of the Sweet Adeline Barbershop singers.

Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Charles.

She is survived by her three daughters, Deborah and husband, Roger Ahrens of Huron, South Dakota; Michelle and husband, Kurt Bennett of Indianola, Nebraska and Pam Lakabung and Al Venenga of Gladbrook, Iowa; one son, Kenneth and wife, Carla Murray of McCook; six grandchildren; two sisters, Heidi and husband, Fred Pinkel and Shannon and Gregg Pevoteaux, all of McCook; and one brother, Dick and Linda Cross of Venice, Florida.
