Avis Sheldon (Ulrich) - Class Of 1958

McCOOK, Nebraska -- Avis LaRue Ulrich passed away Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2012, at her home surrounded by family. She was 72 years old. Avis was born July 28, 1940 at Wray, Colorado, to parents, John "Jack" H. and Orba L. (Dodge) Sheldon. She attended schools in Wray and later graduated from McCook High School in 1958. On Oct. 18, 1958, she was united in marriage to LeRoy G. Ulrich at Oberlin, Kansas. To this union a son, Byron, and daughter, Shree, were born. They made their home in McCook where Avis was a busy mother and homemaker. She also worked at Community Hospital in supplies and sanitizing. She was a member of McCook Christian Church. Avis enjoyed traveling with her family. She also loved being around friends and family and cooking their favorite foods for them to enjoy. Preceding her in death were her husband, LeRoy Ulrich on May 13, 2008; her parents, Jack and Orba Sheldon; step-father, Harold Campbell; and brother, Jack Sheldon, Jr. Survivors include her children, Byron Ulrich and wife, Tanya, of Denver, Colorado and Shree and husband, Brad Arends, of Grand Island; eight grandchildren, Jamie (Billy) Johnson, Jeffrey (Lexi) Ulrich, Joslynne (Matt) Ulrich, Colton Marshall, Jesse, Elijah, Bobby and Clay Arends; seven great-grandchildren, Alexis Johnson, Johnathan Ulrich, Aliyah Johnson, Madilyn and Matthew Durrin, Kody Ulrich and Ashlyn Johnson; three sisters, Monna Faye Reasoner of Gresham, Oregon, Arthada Woodbury of Portland, Oregon and Barbara and husband, Larry Lauer of McCook; one brother, Keith Sheldon and wife, Marva, of Naples, Florida; numerous family and a host of friends.
