HOLDREGE, Neb. -- Mass of Christian Burial for Carol (Brecht) Erickson will be on Thursday, July 14, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. at the All Saints Catholic Church in Holdrege with Father Jamie Hottovy and Deacon Tim Danek officiating. Rosary will be recited prior to the Mass at the church at 9:30 a.m. Interment will be held at the Prairie Home Cemetery following the services.

Carol (Brecht) Erickson, 79 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2016, at Bryan Medical Center East in Lincoln, Neb. Carol was born on Nov. 10, 1936, in Red Willow County on the family farm near Indianola, Neb., to Fred and Marie (Powers) Liess. She attended elementary school at Ash Creek Rural School District and St. Patrick's Catholic School in McCook, Neb., and graduated from McCook High School with the class of 1955.

On June 26, 1956, she was united in marriage to Kenneth W. Brecht in McCook and to this union three daughters were born: Julie, Kendra and Linda. In 1959, they made their permanent home in Holdrege, where Carol was employed by Wm. Anderson Plumbing & Heating, General Glass Company and assisted her husband, Ken, who had established K&D Motor and Electric in Holdrege. Following the passing of her husband, Ken, in 1986, Carol began employment with Marge Miller, D&T Body Shop and Holdrege Public Library as an administrative assistant until her retirement in 1998.

On Dec. 27, 1997, she was united in marriage to Harold L. Erickson and the couple continued to reside in Holdrege. They enjoyed traveling and going on tours with family and friends. In 2014, Carol was preceded in death by Harold.

She was a member of All Saints Catholic Church and Altar Society. She was a member of the Powder Puff Club and enjoyed playing cards, sewing and especially making costumes for her grandchildren. She loved flowers and tending to her flower garden.

Besides her parents and two husbands, Carol was preceded in death by one brother, Don Liess; one sister, Elda Holloway; brothers-in-law, Harry Trimble and Virgil Wilson; sisters-in-law, Dolores Liess and Leona Liess; and a nephew, Matthew Brecht.

Carol leaves to celebrate her life her three children, Julie Milburn and her husband, Pat of Lincoln, Neb., Kendra Goodwin and her husband, Jim of Lincoln and Linda Reckling and her husband, Ryon of Sioux Falls, S. D.; four grandchildren: Holly Milburn, Justine Goodwin, Samuel and Nathan Reckling; one brother, Richard Liess and his wife, Sheryln of Goodland, Kan.; one sister, Rita Trimble of Columbia, Tenn.; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Liess of Sun City West, Ariz., Norma Wilson and her friend, Ed Herzog of McCook, Neb., and Lila Cook and her husband, Ronald of Culbertson, Neb.; brothers-in-law, Alan Brecht and his wife, Karen of Kearney, Neb. and Ralph Holloway of Lincoln; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 13, 2016, from 4 to 8 p.m. with the family greeting from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.

A memorial has been established in Carol's honor and kindly suggested to the All Saints Catholic Church for the beautification of the outdoor atrium at the church in remembrance of Carol's love of flowers.
