Betty Huff (Woodruff) - Class Of 1955

MCCOOK, Neb. — Betty M. Woodruff, age 82, of McCook, passed away Monday, June 2, 2019, at Community Hospital in McCook. Betty was born March 21, 1937, in Lebanon, Neb., to parents, Charles Edward and C. Lucille (Kern) Huff. She was raised in the Lebanon and McCook area. The family moved to Beatrice, Neb., in 1954, when Betty was a senior in high school. Betty met the love of her life, Robert Dennis Woodruff, on Valentine’s Day, 1954. The couple wed later that same year, on June 20, in Beatrice. Betty came from a very small family and Bob’s large family welcomed her with open arms. George and Theolyn Woodruff, Bob’s parents, became a second set of parents to Betty. Bob and Betty moved to McCook in 1966, and were blessed with two children, Charles “Chuck” and Janie. Betty was an active member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in McCook. Over the years, Betty influenced the lives of many youth and teens by teaching Sunday School and confirmation class for over 35 years. She also served on the church board. Betty was a longtime employee of McCook Community College, where she managed the campus bookstore for 25 years. Betty had many interests that kept her busy such as interior decorating, jewelry creations and cooking for her family and large events. Later in life she developed a fondness for her artistic side and shared her artwork with many people in her congregation and family. Betty loved her many pets, enjoyed spending time with family and friends and playing cards. For 13 years she and Bob traveled south to Weslaco, Texas, and enjoyed many other travels throughout the United States with the family. One of her favorite things was cheering on her boys when they played baseball. Her grandkids held a special place in her heart. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; infant brother, Dale Huff; mother- and father-in-law, George (Theolyn) Woodruff; several brother- and sister-in-laws; and a grandson-in law, Trent Anderson. Those left to celebrate her life include her husband of 64 years, Bob Woodruff of the home in McCook; son, Chuck (Holly) Woodruff of Douglas, Wyo.; daughter, Janie (Tom) Bredvick of McCook; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, Gina Fabricus and her children, Colter, Kambri and Weslee, DeArby Anderson and her children, Aubrey and Ainzley, Jalynn Kautz and her son, Kaithan and Drew, Dustin and Dawson Bredvick; as well as many nieces, nephews and great friends. Visitation, with family greeting friends, is today, June 6, 2019, until 7 p.m., at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home in McCook. A funeral service will be Friday, June 7, 2019, beginning at 11 a.m., at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, with Rev. Dr. Brad Brauer officiating.
