Shirley Shadley (Folkers) - Class Of 1954

Shirley Joan Folkers went to meet with someone who beckoned from above Saturday, April 15, 2017. She was born Feb. 28, 1936, in McCook, Neb. to Ruby Emma Marie Wolf Shadley and Clifford Walter Shadley. 
Shirley was baptized and confirmed in the Peace Lutheran Church in McCook, Neb. She was united in marriage on Oct. 25, 1957, to Raymond Albert Folkers, by his brother, the Rev. Robert Folkers in Culbertson, Neb. and moved to Farmington. She spent many years helping her husband in his work. Besides being an ""A number one gofer"" she was a sales clerk, a photo finisher, a complaint/arbitration analyst, a ""girl Friday,"" secretary and manager of an 18-office building. She helped wherever and whenever she was needed. She loved to travel and play bingo. She was 60+ (joined at the age of 16) year member of the Royal Neighbors of America. The Daughters of the Union Veterans Tent #11, a past member of the Republican Women's Group. A lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW #614 and she belonged to the BPO Does, Drove #91 for 52 years. Shirley was a 20-year member of the Farmington Red Coats and was named Red Coat of the year in 1992. She was a longtime member of ABWA. She was the Presiding Judge for her Precinct for many years and worked early elections for the San Juan County, and was named Presiding Judge for the city of Farmington in 2006, she enjoyed seeing all the voters every election, very much. 
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Glen Clifford Shadley of St. Louis, Mo. on July 5, 1981, Curtis Frank Shadley of McCook Neb. On June 21, 1999, and Leland Leroy Shadley of McCook, Neb. on July 9, 1999, (just 18 days apart); and her husband, Raymond on April 19, 2006. She is survived by her son, Stephen Ray of Las Cruces; brother-in-law, Robert Folkers and wife Connie of Bellevue, Neb.; sister-in-law, Mary Shadley of McCook, Neb.; and numerous nieces and nephews. 
Cremation has taken place and Inurnment will be at Memory Gardens at a later date, by family members.
