Maxine E. Stevens, age 85, went home to be with The Lord Thursday, December 5, 2019 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook, NE. Maxine was born November 27, 1934, the daughter of the late William Clayton and Goldie Mae (Smith) Heskett. She was one of 9 children. Maxine graduated from McCook High School in 1953. Maxine married Ralph Stevens on October 4, 1967 in Jackson, MI. They resided in Bradley, Arkansas, Hesperia, MI and then in 1976, they moved to McCook. Maxine belonged to the First Baptist Church of McCook and was a member of the American Baptist Women’s Association and the Wood Circle. Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Stevens, on March 5, 1993; three brothers, Marvin, Melvin and Alvin Heskett; and three sisters, Myrle Haigwood, Mildred Carfield, and Bernice Clark. Maxine is survived by one sister, Eleanor Ransom, of Brigham City, UT; one brother, Kenneth Heskett and wife, Patsy, of Chico, CA; as well as many nieces and nephews and Tracy Hixon, a devoted special friend.
