March 23, 1934 - Nov. 15, 2008

 

Franklin 'Frank' Edward Bower died Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008, at Community Hospital in McCook at the age of 74.

He was born March 23, 1934, in McCook to Walter and Sophia (Schutz) Bower. Frank grew up in McCook and graduated from McCook Senior High School in 1953. On Aug. 23, 1956, Frank entered the U. S. Army and served until his honorable discharge on Aug. 22, 1958.

 

On Feb. 14, 1960, Frank married Andrea Nicholson in McCook and enjoyed 48 years of marriage to his best friend. Frank was manager of Hinky Dinky Super Market in McCook and Seward, Neb. He was also co-owner of the Country Corner Grocery Store. For the past 17 years he owned and operated Frank's Produce Market in McCook. He was a member of the Memorial United Methodist Church in McCook

 

Frank enjoyed boating, camping, fishing and hunting with his family and friends. He was a kind, caring man who made friends wherever he went. The real love of his life was his family and attending his grandchildren's activities.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Doris Bower; father-in-law, Loyall Nicholson; and nephews, Steve Bower and Timothy Bower.

Frank is survived by his wife, Andrea Bower of McCook; two daughters, Michele and husband, Kyle Hoehner of Lexington and Melanie and husband, Brad Cochran of Imperial; five grandchildren, Elizabeth and husband, Jeremy Yilk of McCook, Justin Hoehner of Kearney, Erica Cochran and fiance, Chris Siegel of Kearney, Chad Cochran of Kearney and Keithan Cochran of Imperial; one great-granddaughter, Camryn Yilk of McCook; brothers, Walt Bower and wife, Vera of Elkland, Mo., and Ken Bower of Trenton; sister, Bettie Sanders and husband, Wallace of Larkspur, Colo.; mother-in-law, Dorothy Nicholson of McCook; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Gene and Charlene Jaeger of Arvada, Colo.; eight nephews; numerous great nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2008, at 10:30 a.m., at Memorial United Methodist Church in McCook with the Rev. Dr. Jeffrey Thurman officiating. Interment will be at Riverview Cemetery in McCook.

Visitation will be at Herrmann Funeral Home from 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. today.
