Al Rothmeyer - Class Of 1953

McCOOK, Neb. — Alvin (Al) Raymond Rothmeyer, age 85, resident of McCook, passed away at Community Hospital of McCook on April 6, 2021. Al was born in Cedar Bluffs, Kan., on July 8, 1935, to Alvin (Bud) and Mary (Sughroue) Rothmeyer. He attended school in McCook, graduating from McCook High School in 1953. Al served in the United States Army, stationed in Korea from Oct. 21, 1953, until Oct. 20, 1955. He then transferred to the Army Reserve, serving out his enlistment. Al was married to Ruth Karen Janisch and to this union five children were born: Steven, Judy, Deborah, Jacquelyn and David. Al farmed south of Indianola. He owned and operated his own AGR Commodities business in McCook. Al was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, McCook Eagles and the Elks Lodge. He enjoyed shooting pool, playing cards, and socializing with friends. Al was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Mary; son, David Raymond Rothmeyer; step-grandson, Andrew Burrell; siblings, Lorene Phillips and Gary Rothmeyer; and brothers-in-law, Ted Phillips, Dean Lawson and John Jones. Al is survived by Ann Macfee of McCook, companion of 25 years; children, Steven (Sherri) Rothmeyer of McCook, Judy (Joe) Haverland of Perham, Minn., Deborah (James) Rice of Wappapello, Mo., and Jacquelyn Rothmeyer of Albuquerque, N.M.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Dolores Lawson of Hayes Center, Neb., Anne Jones of Grand Island, Neb., Wayne (Judy) Rothmeyer of Las Vegas, Nev., and Larry (Sandra) Rothmeyer of Leavenworth, Kan.; and sister-in-law, Connie Rothmeyer of Olive Branch, Miss.
