Dean Roedel - Class Of 1950

 

GREELEY, Colo. — Dean Enoch Roedel of Greeley was born in McCook, Neb., on May 28, 1932, to Enoch and Emma Roedel. He passed away on July 17, 2021, at home in Greeley. Dean attended a one-room country school through seventh grade, then went to St. John’s Parochial Day School for eighth grade. He graduated from McCook Senior High School in 1950. Dean served in the Nebraska National Guard prior to serving with the Aviation Engineers during the Korean Conflict, earning rank of Sgt. in the U.S. Army. On Nov. 21, 1954, he married Joanne Ruppert at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Ash Creek, in McCook. Dean was active in the Lutheran Church, serving on many boards, as well as teaching Sunday School and bible classes. He enjoyed singing in church choirs for many years and being a member of the “Over-the Hill Gang” at Trinity Lutheran Church. His strength of character came from being raised on a Nebraska farm during the Depression. Dean especially enjoyed camping in the Rockies, as well as time with his grandchildren! Survivors include his wife, Joanne; children, Michael (Anna), Karen and Kathryn (Randy); sisters, Lois Lepper and Carol Ruland (Bob), sisters-in-law, Vicki Roedel-Evans, Carol Max and Doris Ruppert; and brother-in-law, Larry (Lynda) Ruppert, and five grandchildren, Avery, Hilary, Evan, Colby and Rachel. Preceding him in death were his parents; brother, Richard; sister, Mary; brothers-in-law, Don Ruppert, William Lepper and Alva Max; and an infant grandson, Cate Austin. Celebration of Lite was July 23, 2021, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Greeley with inurnment in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Greeley. Stoddard Funeral Home of Greeley was in charge of arrangements.
