Carol Schiable (Loker) - Class Of 1950

Carol Dee (Schiable) Loker,    84, formerly of Dodge City, died February 12, 2017, in Wichita. Carol was born August 6, 1932, in Oxford, NE, to Edward and Eve Schiable, who were both in their 40’s at the time. They moved to McCook, NE, where she met and married, Aubrey “Si” Loker in 1953. They were married for 40 years and had 5 children. The family eventually moved to Dodge City where Carol was active in the First Presbyterian Church. She worked at Woolworth before taking a job with Si at McCarty Fire Equipment. After Si’s passing in 1993, she was a paraprofessional at Dodge City Junior High School in Home Economics. Preceded in death by her parents of McCook; husband, Aubrey “Si” of Dodge City; daughters, Deborah Loker of Basehor, Barbara (Edwin) Hamlin of Wichita, and son, Daniel Loker of Atlanta. Her daughter, Barbara, passed away on January 31, 2017. Survivors: sons, James (Carolyn) of Kalamazoo MI, Thomas (Jill) of Holcomb KS; 7 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren. Carol loved her family and friends and enjoyed growing and arranging Iris for competition. A double Celebration of Life Service for Carol and Barbara will be 10 a.m., Saturday, February 25, at Westwood Presbyterian Church, 8007 W. Maple Street in Wichita. Interment will be 10 a.m., Monday, February 27, at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Westwood Presbyterian Church Parish Nurse Ministry.
