Ruby Delores Rice

Ruby Delores Rice, resident of Ponca City, passed away Monday, May 9, 2011, at her home. She was 80. The memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 13, 2011 at the First United Methodist with Rev. Mike Smith, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory. Ruby was born on April 15, 1931 to John Frick and Lillian (Most) Frick in Atwood, Kansas, the youngest of seven. She grew up Oakland, California and later moved to McCook, Nebraska, graduating from McCook High School in 1948. She married Phillip W. Rice on August 12, 1951 in McCook. Ruby worked in a variety of capacities over the years, including as a secretary for the Atwood Community High School, and later in Ponca City as an administrative assistant for State Farm Insurance and Conoco. Ruby was an avid sports fan and loved to golf with her husband and boys, and to watch or attend OU games and Oklahoma City Thunder games. She also enjoyed boating at Johnson's Lake, in Nebraska, or any opportunity to do that which she loved best, which was to be with her family and friends. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, worked on the Marland Foundation Board, and was a member of the Ponca City Country Club and the WGA. She is survived by her husband Phillip of the home; her son Rick, his wife Joanne, and their children Gillian and Griffin, of Benicia, California; her son Randy, his wife Cheryl, and their son Duncan, of Olathe, Kansas; and her surviving sisters Vera Mormon, of Suphur Springs, Arkansas; Betty Olita, of Memphis, Tennessee; and Irene Stumbo, of Kearney, Nebraska; and sister- in- law Lonnie Frick of Atwood Kansas; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in her death by her parents John Frick and Lillian (Most) Frick; her brothers, Robert and Gene Frick and sister Fern Sutton.
