McCOOK, Neb. - Elaine M. Haussler, age 93, formerly of Arapahoe and Holbrook, Neb., passed away on Thursday, Nov. 28, 2024 in White Stone, Va. She was born on June 20, 1931 to Jake and Mathe Fritz, the first of four children. She grew up eight miles southwest of McCook, Neb.

She married Frederick “Fritz” Haussler on Aug. 6, 1950, and lived on the Haussler family farm, four miles northwest of Holbrook, Neb. Two children were added to this union, Eugene and Suzanne. Eugene passed away in 1972. While Suzanne added three grandchildren for her, Julie (John Arata) of Folsom, Calif., Jeremy (Esther Leising) of Hampton Va., and Katie (Mark Fuentez) of Mission Viejo, Calif.. Four great-grandchildren were added to the family. Fritz passed in 2006.

Elaine had enjoyed raising fancy Irish and exotic chickens. She had a talent for decorating beautiful cakes for family and the community, with her secret lemon filling. She enjoyed performing for many years and traveling with the Sweet Adelines.

In 2015 the family farm was sold, and she then moved to Prairie Pines in Arapahoe, Neb. for the next seven years. Her last big adventure was to then live with her daughter in White Stone, Va.

There will be no viewing or visitation. Graveside services will be Friday, Dec. 6, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. at Holbrook Cemetery, Holbrook, Neb. with George Probasco officiating. A reception will follow at Holbrook Community Building, Holbrook, Neb.. Garey Funeral Home of Arapahoe, Neb. is in charge of the arrangements.
