Billie Ann (Wright) Case

Nov. 7, 1931 — July 10, 2013

Sonora resident Billie Ann (Wright) Case died July 10 at Sonora Regional Medical Center’s long-term care unit. She was 81.

Mrs. Case was born Billie Ann Wright in Mullen, Neb., to Billy and Mildred Wright.

She was a career nurse with acute care training and certification.

Mrs. Case also worked in nursing administration after earning a master’s degree in business administration from Sacramento State University.

She retired in 2010, but continued to volunteer until March 2012.

She moved from Nebraska to California in 1951. She settled in Sonora 20 years ago to work at Sonora Community Hospital.

Mrs. Case was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and volunteered there. 

She enjoyed reading, learning and gardening. 

Mrs. Case was preceded in death by her parents, Billy and Mildred Wright; and brother, Tom Wright.

 

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Marvin Case, of Sonora; her children and their spouses, Carol and Monte Moses, of Carmichael, Cynthia and Craig Ackerman, of Galt, Steve and Marit Case, of Carmichael, and Pam and Jerry Railsback, of Atascadero; siblings and their spouses, Wayne and Carol Wright, of Old Greenwich, Conn., and Susie De Shon and Kenneth Rockler, of St. Paul, Minn.; brother-in-law, Monte and Verola Case, of Sacramento; and sister-in-law, Lavone and Gaylord Correll, of Redwood Valley; her grandchildren and their spouses, Heather and Jay Parker, of San Clemente, Morgan and Rob Gace, of La Quinta, Kara Ackerman and Camrie Ackerman, of Loma Linda, Kaylie Ackerman and Kade Ackerman, of Galt, Katie Case, of Carmichael, Nate Garcia, of Ridgecrest, Mark and Jene’ Railsback, Mandy and Ry Beardsley, and Jason and Christina Railsback, all of San Luis Obispo; and seven great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to Adventist Frontier Missions, P.O. Box 286, Berrien Springs, MI 49103.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Aug. 17 at the Seventh-day Adventist Church, 40 N. Forest Road, Sonora. A private family burial was held at Dambacher Mountain Memorial Cemetery.
