SAN JOSE, California -- Merlin E. Hoyt died Oct. 10, 2012, in San Jose, California.
He was born Aug. 4, 1931, to Dean W. Hoyt and Emma (George) Hoyt in McCook, Nebraska. He was raised by her and after her death, by Silvia (Bailey) Hoyt, who his father married.
He graduated from McCook Senior High in 1948. He served in the U.S. Air Force 1949-1952. He married Lorna M. (Harrison) Hoyt in 1955.
He was preceded in death by his parents,Dean W. Hoyt, Emma (George) Hoyt, Silvia (Bailey) (Hoyt); wife, Lorna M. Harrison Hoyt and sister, Nadine (Hoyt) Stramel/Young.
He is survived by his son, Mike Hoyt and wife, Gloria of San Antonio, Texas; daughter, Sue (Hoyt/Lampman) and husband, Jamie Dack of McCook; brother, Bruce Bailey of Minnesota; sisters, Betty Hoyt of North Dakota and Dorsey Smith of Idaho; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren all of McCook.
A memorial service will be at Memorial United Methodist Church in McCook at a later date, with inurnment service at Memorial Park Cemetary.
