Carollee Genice Wallen of McCook, Nebraska passed away shortly after her 87th birthday on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook.

Carollee was born on December 4, 1929 in Des Moines, Iowa to parents, Joseph and Jean (Akers) Franklin. She graduated in 1948 from McCook High School.

On November 22, 1947, Carollee was united in marriage to Robert Lynn “Bob” Wallen in McCook. They made their home on a farm southwest of McCook where they raised their three children. Carollee was an integral part of the farm whether it be hauling meals to the field, running after parts, raising a large garden, and keeping the farm books.

She was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church. Carollee loved the farm where she could enjoy her birds, cats, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was an avid Husker fan and loved the time she and Bob spent traveling.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Joseph and Jean Franklin; son, Daniel Joseph Wallen; son-in-law, Dennis Stewart; sister, Elaine Jacobson; and brother, Jerry Franklin.

She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Bob Wallen of McCook; daughter, Lynda Wallen of San Antonio, TX; son, Timothy Wallen and wife, Phyllis, of McCook; daughter-in-law, Kathy Wallen of McCook; sister, Shirley Rotter of Norfolk; brother, Jimmy Franklin of Omaha; grandchildren, Nichole Wallen, Chris (Stephanie) Wallen, Kelli Wallen Saul, Brett Wallen, Bryan (Sasha) Taylor, Erica Hill, Larry Taylor and Mike Taylor; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.
