Bernadetta Cecelia O'Dea Stewart Sis, 81, of Indianola, Nebraska, went to meet her Lord on Saturday May 8, 2010, at Tri-Valley Health Systems in Cambridge, Nebraska.

She was born Oct. 6, 1928, at Freedom, Nebraska, in Frontier County to Elizabeth Hanthorn and Francis Harold O'Dea. She grew up in the Indianola-McCook area and was a graduate of McCook High School class of 1946.

On June 3, 1947, she married Virgil Lee Stewart at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in McCook, Nebraska. To this union eight children were born, Pamela, Nancy, Robert, Susan, Rita, Mary, Margaret and Joseph. On June 8, 1961, her spouse, Virgil was called home to the Lord leaving her to raise their eight children.

On May 5, 1967, she married Johnny Charles Sis, who also has seven children, Mary, Norma, Nancy, Donna, John, Patty and Eddie.

Although she had health problems for many years of her life, never did she complain or let them keep her from enjoying her family and friends and life in general.

She was a member of St. Catherine's Catholic Church and the Altar Society. She loved her church and was always thankful to the priest for saying Mass.

She was a wonderful wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother and friend. Many of the neighbors referred to her as their grandma as well. She enjoyed spending time with her family, she loved watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow up. She liked to go fishing. She taught many a grandchild how to bait a hook and "spit" on the worm for good luck. She also had tons of patience as she needed it when teaching grandkids to drive a stick shift vehicle starting at the bottom of the hill. She enjoyed gardening and canning their produce they raised. She made world class chicken and noodles. She had a great sense of humor and a quick wit. She was very well loved and will be greatly missed.

As her initials show, B-O-S-S, (Bemadetta O'Dea Stewart Sis) she was quick to point out that she was the Boss and every one knew it.

She is survived by her husband John Sis of Indianola, Nebraska; daughter, Pam Ozanne of Wichita, Kansas; daughter, Nancy (Dennis) Campbell of Cambridge, Nebraska; son Bob (Gloria) Stewart of Faribault, Minnesota; daughter, Sue (Rodney) Lockhom of Sidney, Nebraska; daughter, Rita (Ed) McConville of Indianola, Nebraska; daughter, Mary Shadley of Holdrege, Nebraska; Doug Shadley, Indianola, Nebraska; daughter, Margaret (Art) Noyes, Indianola, Nebraska; son, Joe Stewart and friend, Ward Lewis, Lincoln, Nebraska. Twenty grandchildren, Johnnie, Michael, David, Shane, Nathan, Matthew, Daniel, Amanda, Anita, Alicia, Alexia, Kirk, Valerie, Janelle, Lee, Ashley, Andrea, Adrianne, Savannah and Tanner. Three step-grandchildren, Jerry, Tommy and Donald; 33 great-grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and many friends.
