Norma Rae Strayer Landsverk Nelson, affectionately known as Nim to her loved ones, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2024, in Oklahoma City, OK. Born on August 9, 1927, in McCook, NE, to Miley Eugene Strayer and Mabel Pearl Dutcher Strayer, Nim led a vibrant and creative life filled with laughter and love.
Nim's life was one of dedication and passion, reflected in her varied careers. She worked as a bank teller, sign painter, and computer photo shop owner at a theme park, showcasing her versatile skills and entrepreneurial spirit. Nim also owned a craft store and thrived as a seamstress, bringing joy and beauty to the lives of those around her through her handiwork. Her work ethic was matched only by her involvement in her community, where she was known for her spirited nature and willingness to lend a hand.
Her creative spirit was a beacon in her personal life as well. Nim found great pleasure in the arts, often seen with a book in hand or engaged in her numerous hobbies, including sewing, quilting, knitting, crocheting, counted cross-stitch, and oil painting. These interests were not only a testament to her artistic abilities but also served as a medium through which she expressed her love for her family and friends.
Those who knew Nim will remember her for her infectious sense of humor and her creative, spirited personality. She had a knack for making people smile and could light up a room with her funny quips and stories. Nim's legacy of laughter and creativity will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to have known her.
Nim was preceded in death by her parents; her brother Richard Kirkland Strayer; and by her husbands Milton Wilmer Landsverk and Norman R. Nelson.
Her love and memories are cherished by her son, Mark Eugene Landsverk of Orlando, FL; her daughter Kristi Sue Landsverk Perez Thompson and husband Joseph of Edmond, OK; her four grandchildren: Jamie, Jodie, Joseph, and Nichole; and her eight great-grandsons: Gage, Steven, Robbie, Elijah, Parker, Raylan, Wyatt, and Kaden.
Nim's life was a tapestry of rich experiences and enduring relationships. She wove threads of kindness, creativity, and humor into the lives of everyone she met.
