Nora was born to August and Julia M. (West) Cappel.
She graduated from McCook High School in 1945 and continued her education at McCook Junior College.

On April 15-1948 she married Robert James Lewis Jr. at McCook. To this union they had two children and they made their home in McCook.
Nora spent her life as a bookkeeper for various businesses in McCook including Stoeppelwerth Drilling before retiring from McCook Schools Athletic Department and Superintendents Office.

Nora was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and PEO Chapter X. She volunteered countless hours for the American Cancer Society making thousands of candles for the memorial luminaries for McCook's Relay for Life. She enjoyed her flower garden, painting and playing bridge with her friends. She treasured the time spent with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
