LINCOLN, Neb. -- Gordon Eugene Hein gained his angel wings on April 11, 2015, at the Arbors Memory Care in Lincoln.

(Photo) He was born May 27, 1927, in Ansley, Nebraska, to Arthur Hein and Flora Zimmerman Hein. He married Loretta Hoeman on Nov. 2, 1963, at Theophilus Church in Wayne County.
Gordon is survived by his wife, Loretta, of Lincoln; brother, Donald (Virginia) Hein of McCook, Nebraska; sisters-in-law, Adeline Hoeman Anderson and May Ann Hoeman Baier of Wayne County, Nebraska and Eva Hoemann of Lincoln; brother-in-law, Doug Wagner of Wayne, Nebraska; and many nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers-in-law, Clarence Hoemann, Ted Hoeman, Lee Anderson, Ed Doescher, Gilbert Baier and Willis Meyer; and sisters-in-law, Bonnell Hoeman Doescher and Rosalie Hoeman Meyer.

After graduating from McCook High School in 1945, Gordon served with the United States Navy. Following his service, he went to the University of Denver and received his engineering degree. He moved to Lincoln, where he was employed by Goodyear in 1951 with 36 years of service.

He spent his time as a Boy Scout leader and loved fishing camping, photography and Husker football. He also loved his self-made gadgets and had many in his home, as well as being a pioneer in the upcoming computer technology field. Upon retiring, Gordon and Loretta traveled to many destinations. Gordon was a warm-hearted, strong, supportive, and loving man and will be missed by many.

A Celebration of Gordon's Life will be 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at Roper and Sons Funeral Home, 4300 'O' Street, Lincoln. Memorials may be given to Northeast United Church of Christ in Lincoln, Nebraska. No visitation, cremation was chosen.
