Arvie (Hesterwerth) Jaffee Archer

Dec.10, 1926 - March 25, 2017

BURBANK, Calif. — Long-time Burbank resident, Arvie Jaffee Archer, passed away from natural causes Saturday, March 25, 2017, at home in Burbank with loved ones by her side. She was 90-years-young.

Arvie was born Dec. 10, 1926, in McCook, Neb., to Otto and Sarah (Geihsler) Hesterwerth. She grew up in a farming community with her siblings, Archie, Margaret, Annie, Chester and Robert (Bob), now deceased. During the early 1940s, she was in charge of candy, cigarettes and magazines at the McCook Airbase and then transferred to Denver, Colo., with the same job.

She moved to Los Angeles in 1947 and married Daniel Jaffee, who she later divorced. The couple settled in Burbank in 1949. In 1950, Arvie joined the retail department store Ohrbachs and retired in 1987 as a manager and shoe buyer. During this time, she was also actively involved in her children, Jamie and Heidi’s, school programs, from PTA president to Cub Scouts, Blue Birds and Camp Fire Girls troop leader.

Arvie remarried in 1991 to her second husband, Robert Archer, who passed away the same year.

She enjoyed traveling with her family, cooking, playing bingo and attending the horse races. She always said, “I enjoy every minute of each day and I never put anything off for tomorrow.”

Her daughter, Heidi Jaffee Trotta, grandchildren, Eric Trotta, Natalie Figueroa, grandson-in-law, Steven Figueroa, great-grandchildren, Kayla and Cameron Figueroa, sister-in-law, Joan Hesterwerth of McCook and several nieces and nephews as well as many close friends she called family, survives her. Her son, James Michael Jaffee, passed away in 1992.

In lieu of flowers, have a glass of merlot or a margarita, go play a game of bingo or bet on the horses, give to the charity of your choice… and pay it forward.
