Arthur Koetter - Class Of 1944

Arthur “Art” Edward Koetter, Jr., age 95, lifetime resident of McCook, NE passed away Friday, May 20, 2022 at Highland Park in McCook. Art was born on March 5, 1927 in McCook to parents Arthur and Mary (Lepper) Koetter, Sr. He attended and graduated from McCook High School. Following high school, in April of 1945, Art joined the United States Navy proudly serving his country until his honorable discharge in July of 1946. Returning home, he began to farm and ranch north of McCook. On February 14, 1952, he married Patricia M. Reiners. To this union four daughters were born: Pam, Barb, Gloria and Carri. Art was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, supporter of FFA and the American Legion. Farming and ranching were his passions, especially raising cattle. Watching sports was one of his favorite pastimes and he enjoyed following his brother Jim’s football coaching career. His nephews, Dirk and Brent, followed in their father’s footsteps and Art enjoyed following their coaching careers as well. Art is survived by four daughters, Pam Sellers, Barb Brown and Gloria Barron, all of McCook, and Carri (Todd) Case of York, NE; brother, Jim (Barb) Koetter of Pocatello, ID; sister, Veldron Harmon of Kearney, NE; sisters in law, Joan (Reiners) Mackey of Texas, Sharon Koetter of McCook; nine grandchildren, Matt (Deanna) Sellers of McCook, Mitch (Marya) Sellers of Springfield, MO, Kelsey (Dustin) Vakiner of Central City, Sara Mashek of McCook, Samantha Brown of Lincoln, Blair Brown of McCook, Jimmy (Hayley) Barron of Hastings, and Grant and Erin Case of York; fourteen great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. Art was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Patricia Koetter in 2006; brothers, Bernard Koetter and Dick (Marilyn) Koetter; sister, Rose (Gene) Doyle; brother in law, Clayton “Beanie” Harmon; brother in law, Bill Mackey
