Lieutenant Colonel Edwin Francis O'Brien, U.S. Army (Retired), 83, of Cameron, Missouri, formerly of Saint Joseph, Missouri, died on July 4, 2010 at Cameron Regional Medical Center. He served in the U.S. Army until his retirement. He served during World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Francis and Ilah Mae (Potter) O'Brien; daughter, Catherine A. O'Brien; and sister, Evelyn M. McHarness. He was survived by seven daughters, seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, brother, two cousins, and several nieces and nephews.

CAMERON, Missouri -- Lt. Col. Edwin F. O'Brien, U.S. Army (Ret), 83, of Cameron, formerly of St. Joseph, Missouri died Sunday (July 4, 2010) at Cameron Regional Medical Center.
Lt. Col. O'Brien was born July 25, 1926, in St. Joseph. He served in the United States Army until his retirement. He served during World War II, The Korean Conflict and Vietnam.
Edwin loved fishing, horses and children. He also loved reading and having his dog by his side.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William F. and Ilah Mae (Potter) O'Brien; daughter, Catherine A. O'Brien; and one sister, Evelyn M. McHarness.
Survivors include seven daughters, Mary E. O'Brien of Falls Church, Virginia, Deborah S. Colcord of Taunton, Massachusetts, Gwendolyn M. O'Brien of Alton, Illinois, Janet G. O'Brien of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Cynthia L. Parker of Springfield, Missouri, Robin M. O'Brien of Tulsa and Carolyn L. Lakey of Springfield, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Heather M., Jared S. and Devon E. Colcord, Cassandra L. and Andrea M. Parker; Adam M. and Lindsey R. Lakey; two great-grandchildren, Chase S. and Gavin S. Colcord; brother, William R. O'Brien; cousins, Raymond H. and Edward L. Swardson; and several nieces and nephews.
