CAMBRIDGE, Nebraska -- Margaret Luella Verraneault passed from this life on Friday, Nov. 16, 2012, at the Cambridge Manor in Cambridge, Nebraska.

She was born in McCook on April 9, 1926, to Orin and Opal (Troedsen) Ely. She graduated from McCook High School in 1944. About that same time, she met the love of her life, Lionel 'Boz' Verraneault, and they were married on Sept. 16, 1944. Two children were born to them.

For many years Margaret was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, baking, playing cards, doing handiwork especially crocheting many beautiful doilies and afghans, and caring for her family. In 1969, she went to work alongside her husband at Redman's Shoe Store. In 1985, she and Lionel purchased the shoe store, and they operated the business together until their retirement in 1989. Her favorite pastime was the time she spent with her family, and she enjoyed sharing many simple pleasures with them -- going for walks, shopping, sharing a visit and a cup of coffee, enjoying the flowers in her yard, and especially being involved in the lives of her grandchildren.

Margaret was a long-time member of the United Methodist Church in McCook.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; her devoted husband of sixty-four years, Lionel, in 2008; two brothers, Curtis Ely and Wayne Ely; and two sisters, Doris Bridgmon Stewart and Elaine Waterman.
