Joni Shaffer

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Nov. 7 at the Eugene Faith Center for Joni Shaffer of Eugene, who died Oct. 1 at age 85. Her family chose not to list the cause of death.

She was born Sept. 28, 1924, in McCook, Neb., to M.O. and Pauline Burns Knight. She married Jim McCornack June 17, 1949. They later divorced. She married Hiney Shaffer in 1993. He died in June 2001.

She graduated high school and worked for the phone company. She also worked at the Cathay Restaurant and the E.A. Mock & Sons Lincoln dealership, and as a homemaker.

Survivors include a son, Pat McCornack of Novato, Calif.; a daughter, Penny McCornack of West Linn; and two grandchildren.
