Robert B. "Bob" Gibson, age 90, of Cedar Falls, died Sunday, October 20, 2013 at the Martin Health Center at the Western Home in Cedar Falls.

He was born November 28, 1922 in Erie, Pennsylvania, the son of Forrest R. and Laura D. Munger Gibson. Bob graduated from high school in McCook, Nebraska and earned degrees from Northwestern Bible School and Northwestern College in St. Paul, MN.

Bob served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1943-1945. He had tours of duty in various Censor Offices in Ireland, France, and Germany, and was honorably discharged as a Technical Sergeant.

Bob married Evelyn Klein on June 16, 1948 in Hamburg, IA. They made their home in Minneapolis, where their two sons were born.

Bob accepted Jesus as his Savior when he was 12 years old. He was active in church activities his entire life, including service as Deacon and Sunday School teacher at churches in Minneapolis, MN, Butler, IN, Auburn, IN, and at Walnut Ridge Baptist Church in Waterloo, IA. Bob was also Missions Treasurer and auditor at Walnut Ridge.

Bob had a long career as an accountant at Higley Press, Clay Equipment Corp., E&M Machine Tool, and Hawkeye Metal Spinning. He also taught school for two years and worked briefly for the City of Hudson.

Bob was an early adopter of computer technology, which he applied to his career and hobby of researching family history and genealogy. He enjoyed reading westerns, especially those written by Zane Grey.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn of Cedar Falls; 2 sons, Paul (Donna) Gibson of Cedar Falls and David (Barbara) Gibson of Broken Bow, NE; 4 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren, 1 step-great-grandchild; 3 brothers, Richard (Carol) Gibson of Tyler, TX, Donald Gibson of Audubon, IA and Jack (Carol) Gibson of Reeds Spring, MO; and a sister, Mary Hagood of Lincoln, NE.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Nicole Gibson; a great-grandson, Dylan and 2 sisters, Clarice Ann Oughton and Jeannette Bennington.
