Mildred R. Mustion, age 96, of Minden, formerly of McCook, passed away Thursday, August 29, 2019, at Bethany Home in Minden, surrounded by her family.

Visitation will be 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 4, at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home in McCook. Memorials may be made to the McCook Christian Church, McCook, or the Minden Evangelical Free Church, Minden, in her memory. Carpenter Breland Funeral Home, McCook, is in charge of the arrangements.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, September 5, at McCook Christian Church in McCook, with Pastor Clark Bates officiating. Burial will be in the Minden Cemetery, Minden, Nebraska.

Mildred Ruth Horn was born March 17, 1923, in Avoca, Iowa, the daughter of Reverend Nicholas and Edith (Nutter) Horn. The family later moved to McCook. She graduated from McCook High School with the Class of 1941. She received her teaching degree from McCook Community College in McCook. She taught school for six years at a rural school north of Indianola, Iowa. She married Roy Cecil Mustion on June 8, 1947, in McCook, by her father, Rev Nicholas Horn. The couple made their home in Indianola, Iowa until 1963, when they moved to the McCook community. She and Roy were founding members of the McCook Christian Church, where Mildred enjoyed teaching Sunday School, leading women's Bible study and assisting with the women's ministry. They were also members of the Good Sam Camping Club.

Surviving are her husband, Roy of Minden; three daughters, Margaret (Neal) Hauxwell of McCook and Jean (Richard) Hester and Barbara (Brian) Petersen, both of Minden; one son, Richard Mustion of Hershey; 18 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter-in-law, Linda Mustion, one granddaughter, Angelica Petersen, three brothers, Louis, Bryon and Melvin Horn and two nephews.
