Lillian A. Smart, passed away Sunday, May 19, 2013 at Hillcrest Nursing Home, McCook, Nebraska. Lillian was born in McCook, Nebraska on January 31, 1922 to Jacob and Elizabeth (Spier) Lebsack.
Lillian graduated from McCook (NE.) High School in 1939. She was baptized and confirmed in Westside Congregational Church, McCook Nebraska. She worked for a time at Woolworth's and then as a stenographer at the Army Airbase during World War II in McCook, Nebraska where she met her future husband, Jimmie Frank Smart. She later moved to Washington D.C. After the war Jimmie came to Washington D.C. where the couple was married on June 26, 1946. They moved to Dallas Texas where their son James Stephen was later born. She worked at Mercantile Bank as an executive secretary then moved to Des Moines, Iowa and worked at First Interstate Bank as a supervisor. She retired January 31, 1987. She moved to McCook, Nebraska in 2008 to be closer to family.
Lillian enjoyed bowling, playing cards, bingo and board games. She had a great sense of humor and loved to tell jokes and make people laugh.
Survivors are: son, Steve Smart and wife, Sandra, of Pensacola, Florida; grandsons, Blake and Justin; sister, Norma Crocker and husband, Dale, of McCook, Nebraska; sister-in-law, Helen Lebsack of Spokane, Washington and a host of relatives and friends.
Lillian was preceded in death by: parents; brother, Raymond Lebsack and sister, Eleanora Galloway.
Inurnment was in Riverview Cemetery, McCook, Nebraska.
