Jerry L. Bagan died Monday, April 13, 2009, at Community Hospital in McCook. He was 87 years old.

Jerry was born July 20, 1921, in McCook to Wilfred J. and Marguerite (McAdams) Bagan. He graduated from McCook High School in 1939. He attended one year at Creighton University before being drafted into the U.S. Army where he served in the 100th Infantry Division, 1st Battalion, during World War II.

On April 3, 1946, he was united in marriage to Helen May Doyle. To this union one daughter, Jane was born. They made their home in McCook where Jerry was owner and operator of Bagan Refrigeration which was previously owned by his father, Wilfred. He then went on to become District Manager of Air Management Supply Company until his retirement.

He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, American Legion and Veteran's of Foreign Wars.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, dog and horse racing and exercising at the YMCA. He relived his youth through "entertaining" the kids in the neighborhood with many interesting accounts of his life.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Wilfred and Marguerite Bagan; his wife, Helen Bagan on Jan. 26, 2003; two sisters, Helen Noonan and Genevieve Bagan; and one brother-in-law, Emmett Noonan.

Survivors include his daughter, Jane and husband, James Dutton of Broomfield, Colo.; brother, the Rev. Francis Bagan, OMI of Tewksbury, Mass.; one granddaughter, Kimberly and husband, John Hoff of Arvada, Colo.; one great-grandson, Tristan James Hoff; and a host of family and friends.
