FORT WALTON BEACH, Florida -- Dale L. Hulse , at the age of 93, passed away peacefully after a brief illness while family members held his gentle hands.

Dale was born in Stoneham, Colorado, to Ed and Ida Hulse. He was the youngest of three boys. At the age of two years, his family moved to McCook, Nebraska, where he grew up. He was very active in sports and spent much time at the McCook YMCA. He was the first life guard to work for the McCook Community Swimming pool.

He attended the University of Nebraska, where he earned both a Bachelor's and Master's degree in physical education. He joined the US Air Force in October 1942 and retired after 26 years. He and his family enjoyed many duty stations. He served in China, Burma and India during World War II and also served during the Korean War. Duty stations included Japan; French Morocco, North Africa; Great Falls, Montana; Coleville, Washington; Eglin AFB in Fort Walton Beach and teaching ROTC at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.

On June 3, 1942, he married the love of his life, Genevieve Jane Gull after waiting four years for her to become 18. They celebrated 70 wonderful years together.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Ida Hulse, two brothers Don and Harold Hulse and an infant son.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Genevieve (Gen) Hulse, son, Jed Ronald Hulse; daughter, Linda Dale Mills (Jim); two granddaughters, Kimberly Rose (Jeff); Angela Quinn (Ronnie); nine great-grandchildren, Bryan Parks, Brandon Parks, Brett Parks, Michael Quinn (Sarah), Christina Quinn, Christopher Quinn, Jeffrey Rose (Kimberleigh), Brittany Cooper (Blake) and Stephanie Gorton (Tony); three great-great-grandchildren, Madison and Emily Quinn and Owen Cooper.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Panhandle Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) 752 Lovejoy Rd in Ft. Walton Beach, FL or Sharing and Caring 104 Bullock Blvd. Niceville, FL.
