SNYDER, Colorado -- Betty Thompson, 90, longtime Snyder area resident, died Sunday (Nov. 7, 2010), at her home.

She was born June 10, 1920, in Brush, Colorado to Ted and Zita Metz. She lived in Morgan County most of her life except for the few years she lived near McCook, Nebraska and graduated from McCook High School.

She married Wayne Thompson on Jan. 1, 1941. The couple farmed and ranched north of Snyder until retiring in 1988. She was a longtime member of the Chimney Canyon Grazing Association and the Brush Church of the Nazarene.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne; son, James; grandson, Chad; a brother; a sister; and her parents.

She is survived by four children, Ava Miller of McCook, Nebraska, Lee, Dale, and Harry; sister, Rose Garey; 11 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are Saturday, 11 a.m., at the Brush Church of the Nazarene located at 500 Cameron Street in Brush. Interment is at 2 p.m. at the Prairie View Cemetery in Stoneham, Colorado.
