Betty Thompson, 90, longtime Snyder area resident, died Sunday, Nov. 7, 2010, at her home. Betty was born June 10, 1920, in Brush, Colorado to Ted and Zita Metz.

Betty lived in Morgan County most of her life except for the few years she lived near McCook, Nebraska and graduated from McCook High School.

Betty married Wayne Thompson on Jan. 1, 1941. The couple farmed and ranched north of Snyder until retiring in 1988. She was a longtime member of the Chimney Canyon Grazing Association and the Brush Church of the Nazarene.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne; son, James; grandson, Chad; a brother; a sister; and her parents.

Betty is survived by four children, Ava Miller of McCook, Nebraska, Lee, Dale, and Harry; sister, Rose Garey; 11 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
