Reuben (Bop-Bop) Donald Stroh passed away peacefully in his Boise home on Nov. 16, 2007 with his loving wife, Dorothy, at his side. Reuben was born to Henry and Katherine Stroh on Feb. 12, 1917 in McCook, Neb. Reuben graduated from McCook High School in 1936. He wed his sweetheart, Dorothy Ellen Bower on Oct. 25, 1942, and again on May 3, 1943, the first being a secret ceremony in Kansas. After marriage, Reuben enlisted in the Army and served his country faithfully from March 26, 1942 to Oct. 23, 1945, achieving the final rank of Corporal. Reuben earned five Bronze Service Stars during World War II for duty in the Campaign of Normandy (landed on Omaha Beach), Campaign of Northern France, Campaign of Rhineland, Campaign of Ardennes, and the Campaign of Central Europe. After receiving an honorable discharge from the Army, Reuben and Dorothy moved to Denver, Colo. where they lived for 10 years. They then moved to Glenwood Springs, Colo. where they built, owned and operated the Glenwood Motel for 14 years. Reuben was a lifetime member of the BPOE in Glenwood Springs. He was a loving father to his two children Donald and Patricia and spent much of his time fishing and camping with the family in the Colorado Mountains. Reuben and Dorothy retired in 1969, they moved to Mesa, Ariz. in 1979 where they enjoyed many wonderful years before moving to Boise, Idaho in 2003 to live near their daughter. Reuben is survived by his loving wife Dorothy, his siblings Benny and Rosemary, his two children, Donald (Linda) Stroh, Patricia (David) Milner, his grandchildren, Trent Stroh, Kurt Stroh, Brian (Kim) Milner, Stacie (Greg) Andrus, and great-grandchildren, Max, Olivia, Dylan, Raiden, Katie, and Emily. Reuben is preceded in death by his father Henry, mother Katherine, and siblings, Henry, Jake, Elsie, Irene, and Hannah. Reuben will be laid to rest at the Idaho Veterans Cemetery on Friday, Nov. 30, 2007 at 1 p.m. A reception will follow at Bonaventure Retirement at Five Mile and Chinden. Services are under the direction of Summers Funeral Homes, Ustick Chapel.
