Richard Stone - Class Of 1944

Services for Dick LeRoy Stone, 59, Milo, who died Monday, Jan. 9, 1984, at his home following an illness of several years, were held Friday afternoon, Jan. 13, 1984, at Ferry Funeral Home.

The Rev. John Nichols officiated. Organ selections were played by Mrs. B.R. Kapple. Pallbearers were: Leslie Stone, Dave Stone, Terry Stone, Harry Stone, Walter Burris and Tony Lawson. Honorary bearers were Harry Boyles, Jim Boyles, Art Gransbury and Donald Lamore. Interment was in Moore Cemetery.

Dick Stone was born April 10, 1924, in McCook, Neb., the son of Harry Valentine and Myrtle E. Bales Stone. He was married Oct. 30, 1945, in McCook to Etna Mae Thornley. He resided In the Milo and Nevada area for the past 27 years. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans of Nevada. He served in the Medical Corps in the Hawaiian Islands during World War II. He was preceded in death by two sisters, one grandchild and one Great-grandchild.

Survivors include; his wife, Etna Mae, of the home; four sons, Dave Stone and Leslie Stone, both of Milo, Terry Stone, Nevada, and Harry Stone, Oklahoma; two daughters, Nancy Burris and Barbara Stone, both of Nevada; three brothers, Roger Stone, Milo, Lloyd Stone, El Dorado Springs, and Larry Stone, Culbertson, Neb.; five sisters, Alice Conrad, Muncie, Ind., Nola Appleyard, Laura Stuck, and Clara Simeon, all of McCook, and Norma Moore, Fort Morgan, Colo., and 25 grandchildren.
