MSgt. Donald E. Lenhart, USAF (Ret.), 85, of Abilene passed away on January 7, 2023.

Services celebrating his life will be held on Monday, January 23, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home 5701 Highway 277 S. in Abilene. Interment will follow in the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at 1:00 PM. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2-4:00 PM also at the funeral home.

Donald was born on March 26, 1937 in Wray, Colorado to the late Newton A. and Margaret M. (Karp) Lenhart.

He joined the United States Air Force in 1955 in McCook, NE and serviced his country faithfully before retiring in 1981 at Dyess AFB. Donald was a proud Vietnam Veteran.

Donald married Ichiko Nakada on December 18, 1967 in New Jersey. Together they spent close to 45 years together and created many wonderful memories with their family.

He went on to work for Dyess as Transient Alert for over 30 years.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ichiko Lenhart; his parents, his brother, Gene Lenhart; and his sister, Joan Merrill

He is survived by his daughters, Earleen DeGolyer, and Dona Miller and her husband; son, Jim DeGolyer and his wife, Carolyn; 6 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; his brothers, Ed and Fred Lenhart and their families; numerous nieces, nephews other relatives and good friends such as Cappie Meyerdirk
