Janice Eisenbarth (Waddell) - Class Of 1951

Janice L. Waddell, age 89, of McCook, passed away, Monday, July 10, 2023, at the Community Hospital of McCook, NE. Janice was born August 3, 1933, in McCook, NE., to Syril and Dorothy (Dack) Lawrence. At the age of four her mother married Lawrence Timothy “Dutch” Eisenbarth. Most of her life has been in the McCook area. She graduated from McCook High School in 1951. On May 18, 1952, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Waddell in Indianola, NE. They moved to Denver, CO., where Kenneth worked as a traveling salesman, Janice worked for Bradford-Robinson Printing Company. She attended Parks School of Business taking courses in bookkeeping. Janice had an interesting and active life. She was raised on a farm southwest of McCook. She worked as a waitress, telephone operator, worked at Modern Cleaners. In 1985, Janice went to work at Wal-Mart where she was employed for over 27 years. Upon returning to NE., Janice moved to a farm north of Indianola, there, she helped farm and raised three active boys. Janice was a 4-H leader, band mother, and worked with the Southwest ARC Association. She was a member of the McCook B.P.O. Does for 40 years and served as the President and the District President, along with many other offices. Janice was a 50-year-member of the McCook Memorial United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Syril, Lawrence and Dorothy; husband, Kenneth; son, Tim; great granddaughters, Shyanne, and Piper Waddell; daughters-in-law, Cindy (Hackney) Waddell, and Carol (Downs) Waddell; many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Janice is survived by two sons, Larry, and Kendall; daughter-in-law, Trudy Waddell; aunt, Barbara Grafel; 14 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren. The family chose cremation with a Memorial service at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel on Friday, July 14, 2023, at 10:30 AM with Pastor Jeff Kelley officiating. Inurnment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may leave online condolences at herrmannfh.com. Memorials may be left in her name to either the American Heart Fund or the Memorial Methodist Church of McCook. Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel is entrusted with arrangements.
