Carl J. Schmidt, 54, died last Tuesday at his ranch home near Dull Center. Mr. Schmidt was born in McCook, Nebraska on Feb. 23, 1895 and had resided at the ranch 70 miles northeast of Douglas. Mortuary records show his father as John Schmidt, born in Germany and mother as Katherine Trondnowski, born in Germany. He is survived by five brothers, Ed and Joe Schmidt of Denver and Bill, Ted and Herbert Schmidt, who lived on the ranch; and two sisters, Miss Lillian Schmidt and Mrs. Hattie Keenan of New York City.
