Elizabeth G. "Bettie" Schneider, 81, of in Caldwell, died Tuesday, April 2, 1996, a Nampa care center.
Vigil services will be held at 7 p.m. this evening at Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. Graveside services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 6, at Canyon Hill Cemetery, with Father Enrique Terriquez officiating.
Bettie was born March 24, 1915, at Butte, Neb., a daughter of Elizabeth Amanda Sidles and George Augustus Swallow. She was raised by her sister Mabel in Iowa, after her mother's death.
She married Roy J. Schneider on July 26, 1933, at Shenandoah, Iowa. The couple lived there until 1937, when they moved to Pico Rivera, Calif. They moved to Idaho in 1954 and lived in the Pleasant Ridge area of Caldwell for many years. Bettie was manager of the Sears catalog department in Caldwell for several years until she retired. They moved to the Canyon Hill area of Caldwell alter Roy retired from the railroad.
Roy and Bettie dearly loved hunting and fishing in Idaho, especially when the children and grandchildren could join them. They had a large and loving family who miss them dearly. Roy died Feb, 7, 1977, leaving a big void in the family. Bettie never stopped grieving for him. She will be so happy to be reunited with him.
She leaves behind six children, James and his wife, Carol Schneider of Weiser, Doug Schneider of Caldwell, Bruce and his wife, Wendy Schneider of Sacramento. Calif., and John and his wife, Janelle Schneider of New Plymouth, Kay and her husband, Hugh Brown of Nampa, and Sally and her husband, Dan Book of Council; a sister, Mabel Gearhart in Nebraska; 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; special friends, Goldie Anderson, and Norman and Mae Good. She was preceded in death by her husband, one grandson, one granddaughter, two brothers and two sisters.
The family would like to thank the staff of Columbia West Valley Medical Center for their kindness and compassion. Also, we would like to thank the wonderful staff of Karcher Estates where Mom spent the last few months. She was happier there than at any time since Roy's death.
The family suggests that memorials be given either to the American Diabetes Association, 1528 Vista Ave., Boise 83709; or to the March of Dimes, Idaho Chapter, 830 La Cassia Drive, Boise 83705.
