Miss Helen S. Schlecht, born at McCook on February 5, 1902, died this morning at Lincoln. She was a registered nurse at Fitzsimmons Hospital, Denver, and a veteran of World War II serving as a first lieutenant of the 27th Evacuation Hospital with the Seventh Army. She served 22 months in the European theater and a total of 46 months in the Army.

Miss Schlecht was a member of St. Alban's Episcopal Church, the American Nursing Association, Veteran of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. She was a graduate of West Methodist Hospital School of Nursing at Scottsbluff, and did post graduate work at the University of Minnesota. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi, business and professional women's sorority at Denver.

Survivors include five brothers, Christian, Phillipsburg, New Jersey; Jacob, Livingston, Montana; Fred, Kellogg, Idaho; Gus, Missouri Valley, Iowa; Walter, McCook; and four sisters, Mrs. Kate Hust, Miss Clara Schlecht, both of Lincoln; Mrs. Ida Thomas, Mrs. Christine Ward, both of McCook.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Alban's Episcopal Church with Rev. George Peek officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. She will lie in state at the Herrmann Funeral Home from Monday noon until time of the service. In liu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Alban's.
