Jay Brian Nylander, 68, Aurora NE died exercising on August 19, 2015...just the way he would have wanted it. Celebration of life services will be Saturday, August 22, 2015, at 1030 A.M. at the Aurora United Methodist Church. Rev Ron Harris and Rev Karla Sheffy will officiate. Jay's wishes were to be cremated with ashes spread at Medicine Creek Dam in Cambridge. He always said he and his dad took plenty of "stuff" out of that lake, they may as well put something back in! The family will greet friends 5-7pm on Friday evening at the Methodist Church in Aurora. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at www.higbymortuary.com. Memorials in lieu of flowers are suggested to the Aurora Optimist Club, the Aurora United Methodist Church, or the Edgerton Explorit Center. OBITUARY: JAY NYLANDER Jay was born on January 24, 1947, in Denver, CO, to Vernon Gustav and Jeanne (Larson) Nylander. He grew up in Brush, Co and McCook, Ne; graduated and went to UNL before deciding to enlist in the Marine Corp. He served as an Aviation Electrician during the Viet Nam war, was stationed in Yuma AZ for three years and Iwakuni, Japan for one year working on airplanes used in the war. He then graduated from UNL in 1974 and went to work as an accountant at Peat, Marwick, Mitchell; controller for Chief Industries in Aurora and Russell, KS; started the accounting department when Iams came to Aurora. He finally decided to get out of the corporate world, and do his own thing as Padgett Business Services in Aurora. Many taxes later, he retired in May of 2015. Jay and Lynne (Reid) Nylander were married in 1968 in McCook, NE. Jay is survived by his wife Lynne of Aurora; two children, Brian (Lindsay Touslee) of Austin, TX and Kelsey of Aurora; granddaughters Ashley, currently attending school in Chadron, NE, and Gavyn Nylander, 10, an up and coming competition gymnast. Jay's retired brother, Craig, and his mother Jeanne live in Aurora. Jay was very involved in his Aurora United Methodist Church, on the Board of the Edgerton Explorit Center in Aurora, the Aurora Optimist Club and just being a great Dad and husband.
