Ronald “Bud” Gary Baum

Ronald “Bud” Gary Baum passed away on June 16th, 2024, of Supranuclear Palsy at the age of 78.
Ronald was born in Denver, CO on November 17, 1945, to Alfred and Geraldine (Hansen) Baum. He lived in McCook, NE during his early life. He graduated from McCook High School in 1964 where he played football, basketball and ran track as well.
Bud attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, NE for a year, and then McCook Junior College for a year. He married Donna Lehl on August 6,1966 and they moved to Alamosa, CO to attend Adams State where Bud had received a scholarship to play football.
After receiving their degrees from Adams State, they moved several times, including Fresno, CA, Albuquerque, NM and back to McCook, NE where he worked for Rite Mix Milling Company and also farmed in Culbertson. Their two children Chad and Darcy were born in McCook. They moved to Lubbock, TX in 1986 where he ran a successful trucking business for many years.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Pam Andrews.
He is survived by his wife Jan Baum; son, Chad Baum of Aledo, TX; daughter, Darcy (Brandon) Marshall of Lubbock; stepchildren, Renae Cobb and Doug Porter; and seven grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Danny Andrews; two nieces and several cousins.
Bud was cremated and no services will be held.

Bud was a high school BMOC, but was always unpretentious. I remember riding in his new Corvair concertable, imagine that picture. A great loss for our class. Griff '64
