McCOOK, Nebraska -- Harold Lee Davidson, 74, passed away Monday, May 23, 2011, at Community Hospital in McCook.

Harold was born on June 6, 1936, in McCook to Harold Leroy and Iva Thelma (Beals) Davidson. He graduated from McCook High School in 1955 and McCook Junior College in 1957. He continued his education at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, with a master's degree in business administration.

Harold served in the U.S. National Guard from January of 1962 until his honorable discharge in August of 1967. He was united in marriage to Claudia Conway in Fremont, Nebraska on April 5, 1969. To this union two sons were born.

Harold was employed as transportation manager for Abbott Laboratories of North Chicago until his retirement in 1996. He then moved to Lincoln for a few years before coming to McCook. Harold was in the process developing his own winery. His dream was to have McCook's first all-night jazz and wine-tasting venue.

He was a member of the McCook Masonic Lodge and volunteered at the McCook Humane Society and the Buffalo Commons Storytelling Festival. He enjoyed collecting antiques, especially Heisey glass and model trains. Harold was an avid Husker fan, loved to make wine, and listen to jazz.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Harold and Iva Davidson.

Survivors include his two sons, Matthew Davidson of Claremont, California, and Mark Davidson of Santa Cruz, California; and special cousins, Henry and Anita Koch of McCook.

Memorials may be given in his name to the McCook Humane Society.

A memorial gathering is Thursday, May 26, 2011, at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home from 5-7 p.m. with family present to greet friends. A private family inurnment is in the Stockville Cemetery.
