CARLISLE, Pa. -- Frans Robert (Bob) Cotton died peacefully in his sleep at Claremont Nursing home, inCarlisle on Feb. 5, 2016. He was born July 28, 1936 in Lincoln, Nebraska, to Marjorie A. and Harry P. Cotton. 

A 1954 McCook High School graduate, Bob served four years in the United States Air Force at Lackland AFB in Texas. He then returned to McCook, Nebraska, to attend McCook Junior College and then on to the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, receiving his Doctorate Degree in Agriculture. 

During his tenure in Lincoln, he began working part-time for JJ Newberry Stores (aka Hested's/McCrory Corp). This expanded into a life long career as he managed stores in Fairbury and Omaha, Nebraska, and Pierre, South Dakota. His career continued to grow as he transferred to the NYC Corporate Headquarters to serve the majority of his years as a buyer. 

Upon retirement, Bob continued to fulfill his love for playing golf. He would play on sunny days, rainy days, and even snowy days. He played in many tournaments in many parts of the world, moving from Pennsylvania to South Carolina to be able to play in more comfortable weather. Bob was also a huge fan of The New York Yankees all of his life. Eventually, he returned to McCook, Nebraska, and then back to Pennsylvania where his immediate family resides.

Bob married Eunice Carlson and they had two sons, Jeffrey D. and Michael J. of Duncannon, PA. 

He is survived by his sons; his daughter-in-law, Michelle; his ex-wife, Eunice Cotton of Duncannon, Pennsylvania; three beautiful grandchildren, James, Sarah and Alex; his sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Keith Wood of Benkelman, Nebraska; brother, Dennis Cotton of McCook, Nebraska; four nieces and a nephew, and many golf buddies. His parents preceded him in death.

There will be no public service.
