December 19, 1932  -  September 13, 2020

Marilyn G. Henry, 87, of Evansville, IN, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, September 13, 2020, after a brief struggle with cancer.

Marilyn was born Dec. 19, 1932, in Lincoln, NE, to the late A. Vernon and Grace Thompson. She studied fine art at the University of Nebraska before moving to Evansville, where she began a long career as a fashion illustrator for the Evansville Courier, Strouse’s, the Evansville Store, DeJong’s, and many others. For more than two decades beginning in 1982, she taught commercial art and drawing at Ivy Tech, mentoring many of the artists now working in the city. A life-long fan of classic Hollywood, Marilyn was the author of The Films of Alan Ladd; a contributor to movie publications; and a cohost of “Superstar Movie” for WNIN-TV. Her other great passion was paper dolls. As an artist, she produced numerous movie star paper doll books, earning fans and friends around the globe. She also launched a magazine, Paperdoll Review, for which she served as editor the past 28 years. An avid reader and freelance writer, she was a past president of the Ohio Valley Writer’s Guild.

Marilyn is survived by her sons, Scott, and his wife Genevieve, of Atlanta; and Blaine, and his wife Natasha, of Evansville. She will be missed by her publisher, Jenny Taliadoris, close friend Dwan Coomes, and the many friends she made through her love of paper dolls, movies, and books.

No services will be held.
